Prepare your nodes for the Aztec v6 mainnet upgrade
If the governance vote passes, the v6 upgrade becomes executable on mainnet on Monday, 26 October, at 08:00 UTC. We will post again when it executes. The v6.0.0 image ships on Thursday, 22 October.
v6 is a new rollup from genesis. v5 node data does not carry over.
Choose one way to upgrade
1. Standby node for HA setup (recommended). When v6.0.0 is out, move one node to v6, keep the other on v5, and move the latter after the upgrade.
2. Switch in place. Change your image to azteclabs/aztec:6.0.0 as close to the execution as you can.
Before you start
- Images moved to azteclabs/aztec. The old repository gets no v6 release.
- If you set ACVM_* variables, rename them to NOIR_EXECUTE_*.
- Fund your publishers. v6 skips a proposal when no publisher can pay for the L1 transaction.
- Your L1 endpoint must support debug_traceTransaction or trace_transaction, or v6 refuses to start. ETHEREUM_ALLOW_NO_DEBUG_HOSTS=true overrides this, but then the node stops syncing if a proposer publishes through a contract it does not recognize, until you restart it with a trace-capable endpoint.
New in v6: an attester can exit its own sequencer position. Details will be provided in the v6.0.0 release notes and the docs.
